Shop theft at highest in six years

ShopliftingAccording to a government survey, shop theft has risen to its highest level in six years. Figures released by the Office of National Statistics, reported that there were over 313,000 shop thefts in England and Wales in the 12 months to September 2013. Which demonstrates a 4% rise comparative with the previous year.

James Lowman, Chief Executive of the Association of Convenience Stores (ACS) said; ‘We must ensure that shop theft is not seen as a victimless crime and we urge Government to ensure that offenders are punished with the full force of the law.’
