Acting on impulse

Confectionery has long been a staple line when it comes to convenience stores and confectionery companies have honed their strategies and tactics to make the best of this product category; one which appeals to an overwhelmingly large percentage of customers. In fact confectionery seems to encourage a very wide variety of consumer behaviour.

According to research by Him!, the purchase of confectionery is one of the most common reasons that shoppers give for visiting their local convenience store but conversely, a very large proportion of those who buy confectionery in convenience stores hadn’t planned to do so. Chocolate and other confectionery lines are among the most frequently bought as impulse purchases.
