Special Recognition Award 2015

Special recognition - steve lidgate

Winner: Steve Lidgate

Our special recognition award is a rare and unique one. It is presented to one individual from the supplier fraternity who, in the view of Today’s Group, has delivered consistently outstanding service to our buying group and membership over a long period of time, and who has regularly exceeded expectations in the way they have worked with us to grow our business sustainably.  In other words, a classic example of a great “partnership for success”.

This year’s special recognition award goes to Steve Lidgate who has been looking after the Today’s account for many years and has just completed 30 years service with his current employer.  During that time Steve has seen huge change. As the icon of Great British confectionery, Cadbury’s – with it’s family values and very much independent customer focus – morphed into the global multi-sector giant that is Mondelez. To say there have been a few trials and tribulations during this time would be an understatement but Steve has, through it all, been a stalwart. He has fought tooth and nail for both Today’s and it’s members to ensure our voice was heard and our views taken account of. He is always at the end of the phone, always ready to find a solution, supports every initiative and goes above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to managing our account.

He is regarded as a great friend, such is the respect he commands among members and suppliers alike. Ironically, it is the first conference he has ever missed.

Steve, who has worked for Cadbury, Trebor Bassett, Kraft Foods and Mondelez international retires exactly 30 years to the day after joining the business. So, as he leaves Mondelez and heads into retirement, congratulations to this year’s recipient of our Special Recognition Award, Steve Lidgate.

Nicky Reid collected the award on Steve’s behalf.
